Every playground comes from OpenStreetMap, the free world map that volunteers maintain — 1,006,246 playgrounds in 225 countries at the moment. Equipment (swings, slides, sandpits …), fences, trees, benches, toilets and drinking water are OpenStreetMap objects too; we join them to each playground by position. Town and region names come from GeoNames, country borders from Natural Earth. We do not scrape any other portal and we use no Google data.

Most playgrounds simply have no official name — they are “the playground on Elm Street”. OpenStreetMap only records a name where one exists. We then show “Playground in <town>”.

Directly in OpenStreetMap: every page links to “View on OpenStreetMap” and “Report an error” (an OSM note — no account needed). Fixed there, it appears here with the next data run. That way your correction helps every map that uses OpenStreetMap, not just this one.

Nobody has recorded shade explicitly, but at least three trees are mapped inside the playground area, or the area borders woodland. That is an indication, not a guarantee — at noon in July it may still be hot.

Either the playground carries a fence tag itself, or a mapped fence, wall or hedge touches its area. “Unknown” means nobody has mapped it yet — it can still be fenced.

From explicit age tags where present (min_age/max_age — rare), otherwise from the equipment: baby swings, sandpits, playhouses and spring riders point to toddlers; exercise bars, teen shelters and climbing walls to teenagers. Without any equipment list we assume a normal playground for children.

Because nobody has mapped it yet. Add it in OpenStreetMap (leisure=playground) — it takes two minutes with the StreetComplete or Every Door app — and it will be here after the next run.
